The radio show that Wendy gave Travis as part of her failed media monopoly scheme is pretty funny while trying to be serious..this Sunday he interviewed his boy City Council candidate Justin Tevis, they giggled, they romped, they generally made asses out of each other...listen to Travis..he can barely contain himself!!! He's breathless! He likes Justin's clothes!!
Listen: giggles & latinos
Travis believes Justin is just what Santa Barbara needs on City Council... these are his qualifications: Justin rents, he's got a boss who will let him work around his city council run, his mom and dad paid for his education, and he thinks city workers shouldn't retire until they are 70! "There's no nobility in retiring in your 50s", says Justin. Ahh..listen here sonny boy...how many years have you worked... 3 years as a stockboy? What the hell was college for?
You think if you sit on the council you'll be able to tell city workers they can't retire...on their own money?? What the fuck is the matter with you, boy?? Do you know how the process even works? Do you have any idea??
...then he says the city workers shouldn't have any friends among the council members! WTF kind of reasoning is that? I suggest you go to work for the city for a few years because you have no idea how a municipality runs...NONE!! conservatives..I tell ya (shaking my head)...
Then Travis informs us that Lanny Ebenstein, one of the three stooges over at the non-profit-for-profit Santa Barbara County Taxpayers Association, is contemplating a run for mayor! This is because, according to Travis, Lanny has led the charge against canyonization of Santa Barbara...you see, the News-Press was for property rights before they were against them...
well, Lanny, if you run for mayor, make sure you live within city limits, which you failed to do in 2005, but instead rented an apartment on W Sola to trick your way into the race!
FLASHBACK
Santa Barbara
Year Founded 1782Area 21 square milesPopulation 88,300 (2003 estimate)
The incumbent mayor, Marty Blum, fended off a challenge from alleged University of California-Santa Barbara economics professor Lanny Ebenstein. Blum got 64% while Lanny got 34% in 2005...now that folks know a little more about him, his percentage of votes should be much smaller this time around!
It's no secret that Wendy McCaw has tried to buy influence with a monopoly on local media..the NewsPress, the defunct Goleta Valley Voice, AM 1290, and "that Mexican paper", but her poor business skills were the only thing she succeeded in communicating to Santa Barbara...but look for Wendy's pet candidates..Hotchkissass, Lanny, Tevis, Self to get free press ..the NewsPress will pump them up as saviors to Santa Barbara: they'll clean up City Hall, get rid of unions, help small businesses, and balance the budget! oh please....perennial losers will not solve any problems, perceived or real...chatter will not solve problems..sober people working in the real world will solve problems....geez Wendy, what planet are you on?
