WARNING: CONTENTS MAY OFFEND SOME DOG LOVING DOO DOO HEADS
oh boy... Hilary Bowser Hauser is at it again! Spending money to prove the Montecito Sanitary District is polluting Butterfly Beach... HTO is conducting tests on wastewaster treatment plant outfalls to see if the effluent (treated discharge) is polluting the beaches. Nevermind that the effluent is already tested by an in-house lab as part of the state discharge permit!
Hilary heads HTO and has a bunch of celebs like sissy Jack Johnson, who can't play guitar worth a damn and Elaine from Seinfeld blindly following her thinking that she is indeed healing the ocean. So they are using grant money to test the treated water while totally ignoring the multitude of designer dogs running and crapping on the shore! Heal the Ocean depends on fear to keep them in business and some people actually stay out of the water because they think it's polluted..well, the ocean is healthy in spite of all the damage done by people..mostly from litter. But the sea is a specialized environment.
fact: The waters of the Pacific Ocean are already grossly unsuitable for human consumption. They contain highly toxic (to humans) amounts of salt and smaller quantities of almost every element and compound — hazardous and beneficial — known to man. Also present are an untold number of bacteria, including various dangerous ones from the intestinal tracts of land and sea animals. Dolphins and whales gotta go doo doo, too! In fact, if it’s poisonous and exists anywhere on Earth, it’s in the ocean. SO STOP THIS SILLY TALK ABOUT "PRISTINE OCEANS"..
Heal the Ocean at best wants to protect the ocean environment. At worst, it seeks money from private and public sources to do redundant water quality tests. Case in point: HTO received nearly half a million dollars to test the Montecito Wastewater plant's outfall discharge. . HTO is looking for a smoking pollution gun. The fact is they think it is harmful to discharge treated wastewater into the ocean. Do you think that we taxpayers pay the treatment staff to pollute?? Of course not!!
If there were no treatment plants, then they would be right. However, the reason the beaches are safe for swimming is BECAUSE of the treatment plants. Treatment plants, thru various mechanical and biological steps, render sewage into recycleable by-products..that is a biological fact. The problem is the stigma. Wastewater professionals have been working for years to end the misconception that waste is bad or unnatural. Waste is what it is! There is a definite psychological barrier that can't accept that fact. People treat it to render it harmless to the environment..that's what hard science has given us. Excreta NEEDS to be treated, and it is. The emotional response is to demonize and fear OUR OWN BODILY FUNCTIONS..thus, groups like Heal the Ocean are created....the water, my friends, is fine (except for the dog doodoo on the beach)....
