Even as attempts to locate Jack Bauer and bring him to the big screen are underway, the news hit today that Fox rejected a script for the big screen movie of “24.” The script presented was written by Billy Ray, and the executive producer Howard Gordon has said that the script was just not “substantial and compelling enough.” So the hunt for a good script continues, while our hero continues to survive in limbo, bereft of his family and air time.
Bauer could not be reached for comment, but Kiefer Sutherland told Entertainment Weekly that it’s not over yet.
“I was disappointed [Fox] passed on the script but I’m certainly hopeful that the movie will get made at some point,” he said. “Anecdotally, I’ve heard from people who are really missing the show and I do think there is more life in Jack Bauer.”
Sightings of Bauer in London and Zimbabwe have fueled speculation that he is meeting with Indie producers in order to find a way to the big screen. Fox needs to do their business or get off the pot, as the saying goes, as Bauer can’t be expected to exist out of the public eye for very long.
Fortunately he also lives in a different timeline than we do…for us it’s been months but for him it has only been a few hours.

Comment: Although it is very disappointing the initial 24 movie script was turned down, I still believe the 24 film will be made. If Tony Scott ends up getting involved with the film that will be excellent news. There are a lot of stories out there right now making it sound like the 24 movie is dead because Billy Ray's script was rejected but that is not necessarily true. This 24 fan is remaining positive that we will ultimately get to see Jack Bauer on the big screen. I just wish it was sooner rather than later. -24FanForever
