or disabled kids and adults...The foundation was formed by a plastic surgeon..Hollan and Hettiger were the driving philanthropic forces behind the formation of Challenged America, the volunteer-based program founded by disabled veterans in 1978 that teaches adaptive sailing for adults and kids with disabilities.On June 11-12, Challenged America will partner with West Marine and present Regatta 2010 featuring the Commodore’s Cup Challenge on Friday, followed by a dinner and auction, and concluding on Saturday with the Regatta on San Diego Bay. The cup challenge event is a first-to-finish race between commodores – any commodore, vice or staff commodore – of San Diego-based yacht clubs. Each yacht club must have two sailors on board, a skipper and passenger, with a commodore."Our keynote speaker is going to be Laura Schlessinger, who is a pretty good sailor herself and well known for her commentary on the radio," said Hollan, who joined the plastic surgery practice of Smoot, Smoot and Reza as a member of its medical team last month. "She’s a nice fit because she’ll be very entertaining, people know her and she’s a competitive sailor who gets the whole point of this."
ok.. all well and good except I couldn't find any info on the Charity ranking...we know Dr. Laura's charities sometimes take money and give it to her friends instead of the intended recipients, so maybe the plastic surgeon is just a dummy?? or the last yacht race Dr. Laura entere
d she got busted for cheating and was kicked out of the SB Yacht Club..at least that's what I heard..but anyway, some people still think this quack is legitimate..how stupid can they be..getting Dr. Laura to raise money for you just exposes your ignorance...already we got some problems: the nonprofit Challenged America is managed by the nonprofit Disabled Business Persons Association....no info on them either other than they help disabled folks start businesses..now, there's plenty of programs at the state and local level that provide grants and special treatment for the disabled and I got no issue with that, but what does this nonprofit do..facilitate grants? accept donations to faciltate taxpayer grants?? skim?? West Marine sponsors the event and yet they are losing money hand over fist and have many complaints about their business practices:
WATSONVILLE -- At the end of a tough fourth quarter including 18 store closures, layoffs and continued cost-cutting measures, West Marine reported a net loss of $29 million and said the year ahead does not look much brighter. In other troubling news, the company announced that a several-year SEC investigation may result in civil action. The SEC staff notified West Marine on Monday that it intends to recommend a civil action against West Marine relating to how the company reported indirect costs in a 2003 filing. they settled: Under the settlement, without admitting or denying the allegations made in the SEC’s complaint, the company consented to a permanent injunction against any future violations of Sections 17(a)(2) and (3) of the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and Sections 13(a), 13(b)(2)(A) and 13(b)(2)(B) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended.

Most importantly, lies about me. At 63 years of age (okay, 63 and a half), I am absolutely blown away by the casual meanness and vulgarity that passes for opinion and discourse. In my early years, if you wrote or verbally gave an argument that had even a tinge of nastiness (forget the vulgarity), both you and your point of view would be flushed…intellectually disqualified. Nowadays though, people feel frighteningly free to criticize with vulgarities, insults, lies, exaggerations, misrepresentations, character assassination and downright ferocious meanness."
