Ever since I wrote an open letter to the city council candidates, we've lost 3 due to soycumstances beyond my parole.... JMIKE blamed a lack of valid signatures; Iya used the same excuse; and Olivia Uribe just bolted...ok so now we have narrowed the field a bit...but one other old dude popped in at the last minute,Isaac Garrett..if you elect this fellow, the council meeting will be 5 hours long because he talks soooo sloooooooooow....

so we got a few conservative candidates and a few liberal..a good mix...you can tell the conservative candidates because they look crazy, or bloated or something..like they just ate some bad caviar...the liberals look they don't give a fuck about anything except keeping city workers wealthy and that's what I like..empowering the working class by taxing rich but useless people!!
I know we have a contingent of conservatives in SB..they write letters to the News-Press every week reminding people how relevant they are, the Tea Parties, the CulPepper Society, the Native Daughters of the Golden West, the South Coast Coalition.....the South Coast Coaltion is a shady organization made up of rightwing lunatic fanatics like Gina Perry! Dr.Dan Secord and some Lanny Ebenstein types!
They sponsored a debate at Fess Parker's waterfront hotel last week and it was mostly questions that the News-Press has been repeating in editorials for a year: questions about what rich, bourgeoisie white folks fear..make no mistake, the News-Press owns the South Coast Coalition in some form or fashion.......the general question was, in various forms: "what are you going to do to reduce our fears"? and believe me, these folks are afraid of alot of things...bulbouts, unions, homeless, gangs, RVs, Mexicans, taxes, poor people etc.... they think the private sector has all the answers and would seek to privatize city services..
Apparently, a move to privatize will help us out of the financial mess that the private sector has gotten us into for the last eight years: wars, fraud, deceit and poor regulation, ENRON, AIG, BEAR STEARNS to name a few....
History is full of stories about city councils that have fallen for the private sector scheme: sell us your water and wastewater treatment facilities and we'll turn a profit..the truth is attempts to privatize have been met with resistance and for good reason. Cities do a much better job than the private sector....that's why cities up and down the coast own the plants.. most taxpayers get that..
Now, Bingo did an interview with Lanny Ebenstein, whom he calls a "financial guru"...these two nitwits are the epitome of the white collar slackers who haven't done an honest days work in their lives..Lanny is the champion of anti-labor, an "economist" who sits around all day trying to raise money for the non -profit SBCTA, where he is president! and he thinks if you work for they gov't you shouldn't be able to retire! he thinks the gov'ts only role is to protect imbeciles like him from people like me!! WTF does an economic theorist do??

The biggest boondoggle has been between the City of Stockton and water company OMI-Thanes: Environmentalists have said OMI-Thames had a record of mismanagement, that sewer spills hurt the environment and that the city failed in its duty to oversee the performance of OMI-Thames.
"We had to step in and do it," Concerned Citizens Coalition Chairwoman Sylvia Kothe said. "We were ignored by both the City Council and the media."
The City of Stockton, which has spent nearly $3 million challenging the lawsuit, is now appealing the Superior Court’s decision. In January 2005, Attorney General Bill Lockyear filed an amicus brief to support the Concerned Citizens Coalition's case. The appeal is still pending.
At the City Council meeting on Dec. 7, the Concerned Citizens Coalition of Stockton released to the public the first Annual Service Contract Compliance Review covering the first phase of OMI-Thames' contract. The Review details changes to the contract that benefit OMI-Thames: water rates for Stockton residents have risen two years in a row due to the contract; customer service requirements have been unfulfilled; a number of staffing positions are filled with temporary or interim employees; unaccounted for water has risen from around 3.5% under municipal operation to nearly 7.5% under private operation; maintenance tasks are backlogged and finally, OMI made an unauthorized dump of chlorinated water into an irrigation canal that resulted in a $125,000 fine from the State Water Resources Control Board. Perhaps these problems are why Gary Podesto, former mayor of Stockton and champion of Stockton's drive to privatize its water system, failed in his bid to win a state Senate seat.
