pony up...
first of all, I gotta say that council candidate Lane Anderson is starting to sound like a martyr with a guilty conscience...following the NewsPress' Dale Francisco's lead not to take money from unions or developers is simply another political stunt...besides Cisco already broke his promise by saddling up with Van Wolfswinkel! First rule of economics, don't turn down legal offers of money!
Hey, Travis is on ANOTHER two week vacation??? It must be nice to have a boss who pays you $200,000 a year to write lies about city workers and gives you vacations every two weeks! ahh.. the private sector..
The council race is like a horse race..you place your bets on the best horse to win..you gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em and how to pick 'em! You wouldn't place a bet on a lame horse would ya?; or a dark horse? or a horse of a different color? or a horse's ass?? NO!! You want a winner..so the folks are placing their bets so that their horse has a better chance of winning...unions want pro labor people on the council; trust funders and wealthy widows and their idiot sons like those who subscribe to the News-Press want anti-labor folks on the council who want you to fear government workers!
Endorsing a candidate doesn't cost any money..the cops and fire already endorsed their fave candidates, no surprise there..well.. maybe a little surprise at the cops picking Self and Hotchkiss, but they have to pander to conservatives a bit to get donations to the SB Police Association..more on this later..
the News-Press will endorse their faves, no surprise there...and the voters will endorse their faves! The role of bloggers and newspapers and other media is to demonize the other side, so I do that easily because the neocons are all demonic..sent by the devil to rant and shake and roll..to exorcise Obama from their heads and Palinites coming out of the woodwork holding FAT TEA PARTIES...like the Shaking Quakers in reverse! Obama has been making it easy for them lately with stupid advisor picks, so I suggest you pick your people more thoughtfully than you pick your nose!
and FYI to all you Measure B proponents..the City already has a building height limitation:
Section 1506. Building Heights. Limitations.
It is hereby declared the policy of the City that high buildings are inimical to the basic residential and
historical character of the City. Building heights are limited to 30 feet in areas zoned for single-family and
two-family residences; are limited to 45 feet in areas zoned for residences for three (3) or more families, for
hotel, motel and office use; are limited to 60 feet in areas zoned for industrial, manufacturing and other
commercial uses; and 30 feet for all other zones. The Council may, by ordinance, set limits of heights less
than these maximums. The Council may, by ordinance, set up reasonable methods of measuring the heights
set forth in this section. (Approved by election held November 7, 1972.)
and may the best horse win!
