MARTIN HONORS AMERICAN FOLK LEGEND WOODY GUTHRIE WITH 000-18WG WOODY GUTHRIE COMMEMORATIVE GUITAR Nashville, TN, July 23, 1999
Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Guthrie is considered one of the most influential folk musicians of all time. Immortalized as an American legend, and inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, Guthrie wrote such classics as "This Land is Your Land," "I Ain't Got No Home," and "Pretty Boy Floyd." Born in Oklahoma in 1912, Guthrie's music and controversial politics were influenced by his own experiences as a migrant farm worker. His songs reflect his concern about class conflict, union issues and the American West. Guthrie impacted some of this country's greatest songwriters including Pete Seeger, Leadbelly, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and others. Guthrie died of Huntington's Disease in 1967.In honor of Guthrie's legacy, his individuality, spirit and lasting impact on the American music scene, Martin is honored to unveil the 000-18WG Woody Guthrie commemorative guitar.

Ty "Luxury Junkie" Warner can't pay hotel mortgage...is quietly marketing the trophy Four Seasons hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
Ty Warner, who made his fortune manufacturing Beanie Babies, is in negotiations to sell the Four Seasons Hotel New York to a group of investors, according to several news reports.
The 368-room hotel, where room rates start at around $1,000, has been hit hard by the downturn in business and international travel to the city. Like all luxury hotels, its occupancy rate has been well below the city average of about 80%.
But more importantly, Mr. Warner has fallen behind on his debt payments. He was unable to make a payment on Jan. 9, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Wendy and Dawn: Last year a Santa Barbara Superior Court cleared the way for illegally fired News-Press reporter Dawn Hobbs to seek an estimated $200,000 or more in unpaid overtime, penalties, interest, and attorney fees....well, the reports are she and the News-Press settled but can't say anything due to the damn confidentiality agreement, or gag order..Wendy is the silent but deadly type, you know..and Nipper is mute when the News-Press loses a ruling, but is Chatty Cathy when they win one!
says Christine over at Nippers: Where is the bragging that this case is now settled? Where are the hurrahs for the big win here? Guess SBNP had to pay up on this one! Hope you got at least 1/10th of what they are paying the lawyers Dawn!!!!
Dawn has been a steady and strong advocate of getting the SBNP to "get back, get back, get back to where you started from". I KNOW in my heart she wouldn't settle unless the amount of payment matched what she DESERVED.
maybe to the tune of $200,000?
