welp, before neocons, libs or even libertarians (I'll get to them another time) can claim a conspiracy for the recent Santa Barbara elections results, I will! I say there was a conspiracy among the voters and City of Santa Barbara to elect candidates by mail...to hold an election and it's true! It happened!Plus, there have been many erroneous theories as to why some people won and some people lost. Why, some folks have even claimed victory even though their candidates lost...so let me clarify it for you so you don't rupture a brain vessel...
The Measure B slate lost..LOST! That includes Measure B, Dale Francisco, Mike Self, Cathie McCammon and Frank Hotchkiss...the whole slate, ball of wax, entity lost. Randall Van Wolfswinkel, the private citizen, spent nearly one million dollars to get this slate in the winners circle..but the horse wouldn't run. So Randy lost the most because his slate lost. Now, the slate was like a molecule and if you break up a molecule you get some atoms that won. Two atoms from the slate won, Hotchkiss and Self. But, the only reason they won is because they were part of the Police and Fire Union slate! People want to have police and fire protection more that anything else, so they voted for the
exact candidates the police/fire wanted.. Comrade Schneider, Self, Hotchkiss, House and White ..the interchangeable candidates were Self and Channing..Diane lost to Self by only several hundred votes...I don't think Mike will last very long on the council once she sees how the city really runs! If she keeps complaining about every little thing, she'll hit a brick wall, ie the communist blue collars!and she hasn't even figured out which union is which yet! Speaking of unions, the Philly Transit workers went on strike and one of their contract demands is more Viagra...so yes, there are some bad apples out there and sometimes other rank and file members need to keep them in line...
Now, the number of votes and percentages were analysed by the Guest Editorial writers at the NewsPress..they kept saying that Comrade Helene didn't get 50% of the vote..well, that means nothing because she got the most votes and the highest percentage..all being based on the number of candidates and voters.. Comrades Schneider and House got the most votes in their respective races so they won, real simple! and a hard pill to swallow for neocons, who ran silly campaigns...
and three out of five the NewsPress endorsements lost...why? because the NewsPress picks losers, that's why!
and that's what really happened....
